Casa Limón is located in the beautiful Carrasco valley in La Alpujarra: an intimate green valley with magnificent views to the Sierra Contraviesa with its almond trees and grapes, and flanked by the Sierra Nevada. Here you will find the highest peaks of the Iberian Peninsula, and indeed: with snowcapped peaks for most of the year.
The origin of Casa Limón is about 240 years ago. In the course of time there has been added to the building, and a few years ago a complete renovation was done, while maintaining the original style and details, such as the beautiful ceilings with chestnut beams, the cosy rooms, the steps that follow the building against the flank of the mountain, and the thick walls that isolate so well.
The salt water pool of 5 by 8 meters (unfenced) is just in front of the house, there is a cosy terrace with beautiful views and a covered dining area between kitchen and swimming pool. There is also an intimate terrace covered with plants on the side of the house. On the first floor there is a large sun terrace, of course again with beautiful views. Lower in the garden you can also enjoy sun and views from a fourth terrace.
In the garden you can walk on the various paths and you might find plums, almonds, grapes, persimmons, figs, apricots, nisperos, lemons, mandarins, oranges and other fruit … ripe to eat from the tree. Throughout the year there are flowering plants and shrubs to enjoy. These are irrigated with melt water from the high mountains, which comes to us via old Moorish irrigation channels, ‘acequias’. Enjoy listening to the bells and seeing the herd of sheep and goats from José going around in the valley. Watch the starry sky in the evening: you have never seen the stars so clearly: here there is no air and light pollution.
Division of the house
Downstairs the house has a dining room with fireplace; a kitchen with gas stove, fridge with freezer compartment, electric oven, dishwasher and all possible cooking utensils; a bedroom with two single beds overlooking the pool and valley; a bedroom with a double bed of 1.40 x 2.00 m and a door that opens onto the side terrace covered by climbing plants; and a spacious bathroom with washbasin, shower and toilet. The kitchen and dining room open onto the covered terrace with dining table in front of the house.
Via an outside staircase you come into the upper living area/apartment: here you find a limited kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, coffee machine and water kettle; a spacious bathroom with washbasin, shower, toilet and bidet; the master bedroom with double bed of 1.80 x 2.00 m, air conditioning, view of the valley and a small balcony; a reading and writing office with reading chair, writing desk, fireplace and accompanying balcony; and a cosy sitting room with smart tv (with Movistar+ for Spanish and some international tv channels and Netflix), a DVD player, a CD player, a bookcase with books, games and tourist information, a fireplace and a door – opening to a large sun terrace.
Casa Limón is suitable for a stay of up to 6 people. You rent Casa Limón in its entirety: you have the complete intimacy in home, garden and swimming pool. Casa Limón is also ideal for, for example, friends or family, or families with older children, because the two floors can be used more or less independently. You reach Casa Limón 5 min of the main road on a well maintained, partially unpaved track.
Casa Limón is less suitable for people with reduced mobility (steps). With children be careful for the swimming pool without fencing, the steps and hights without adequate fencing.
Pets are not allowed and smoking is not allowed inside.
